Jason Mraz saved me from drowning in self pity
So I'm typing from Old town at Central Market. My dad has some business with the company store. As you all know, SPM results came out a mere couple of hours ago. Am I happy? As I took my slip, I felt failure falling on top of my head like a block of bricks. Then I was smart enough to go see the person that was capable of making me feel somewhat all right, the one and only Marzypan.
She was the first person to see my exam slip. But after going through that stupid piece of paper and seeing that the number of As are not overwhelming, I immediately put on a happy face for my friends.
In times of need and grief, you need an optimistic person to lighten up the mood and to talk some sense into you. I was that person for many people but after i stepped out of school and went into the car, that optimistic smile faded away and self pity ran straight into my system like a shot of tequila.
Telling my grandmother was something I dreaded doing cause in a line of grandchildren that never even got a C in the history of their educational record, I was the first one. She was cool with it somehow because she knew how upset i was that I did not reach my target.
I'm tremendously happy for the people that got more As than I did. It goes to show that no matter how lazy you are doing class, it doesn't mean that you're gonna do bad. I salute all of you with my heart! Congratulations.
Now I'm listening to a song with a cheerful beat, hoping the dude singing it would infuse some bliss into my soul right now. It was the first song i heard on the radio when we were in the car and it has always bought some light inside of me.
So I'm gonna be listening to I'm Yours by Jason Mraz for some time now.
