Cause I can tell you right now,
That you will never find the evidence on me,
And that's the truth.
So I remember last year, I read an article that shows studies which strongly suggest that what kind of music you like now is heavily influenced on the music you started listening to during your adolescent years. As a journalism student, I would put a link or put a reference but I seriously do not remember the website. My apologies.
The study is not 100 % percent conclusive but I think it works on me. The article said something about when you're 11 or 12, you start to have a grasp of what kind of music you really like and that sticks to you till you grow up. Yeah you listen to other genres and experiment with new sounds but your favorite type of music will most probably be the same as when you listened when your hormones were raging.
When I was that age, as mush of Britney and N'SYNC as I listen to when I was young, pop rock was something that hit me hard because I recall lucidly falling in love with Avril, Ashlee, Busted & Simple Plan. I remember saving buck loads of money to buy their CDs which I put on replay till I got my first Ipod at 13.
As I grew older and finished high school, pop rock stayed with me in the form of Switchfoot, The All American Rejects and Boys Like Girls. That was also the time when I discovered indie bands like Mayday Parade and All Time Low.
Slowly I started to like dance music and listened to all types of hard hitting shit from house to electro to even a bit of dubstep. I was just so fascinated by different beats of different pitches synchronizing together to create such hypnotizing music that you wanna gyrate to.
But today, I stumbled upon a band that I was crazy for in high school, which is McFly. The last album of their that I heard was 2006's Just My Luck which made famous by a movie of the same name starring the yummy Chris Pine.
I had no idea they came out with new material and when I heard "That's The Truth" its like I was brought back to my teens days when a few cute guys, some guitars, a bass and a drum set rocked my world. Its like I never stopped listening to them and their music never fails to make me scream like a fanatic groupie.
Pop Rock never left my system and had a huge influence on my music choices. McFly made me realize that no matter how dance music rocks my body, pop rock music never fails to rock my heart. A toast to the bands that made songs that I hummed to in class back in high school! Your music touches me now and forever.
Indulging in the beats of : That's The Truth by McFly
